Swoon

Silversun Pickups

My Review

It has been a while since I have sought out new music, let alone discovered any organically, and am glad to have found this album. It is nice to come across new (to me) music as an adult because it helps me understand what I actually enjoy as opposed to what I like because of nostalgic and sentimental reasons. Swoon is a perfect sountrackalbum, the type of thing that plays in my headphones when I want to evoke a mood rather than listen to something specific. The general cohesion of the album works great to this effect without getting so repetetive it feels boring. I like the instrumentals and lyrics a lot, and the vocals really bring it all together perfectly. The vocalist is vaguely (very vaguely) reminiscent of Vic Fuentes or Kellin Quinn, oweing to a similar youthful androgyny, which vompliments the instrumental and prevents the album feeling generic. I am struggling to distinguish between several of the softer tracks at the moment, though I think I just need to listen again a few more times.
