This one is not even a serious attempt. "If you are the angel on my shoulder, I shudder to think of the demon." I text my best friend. Her response is the title, which inspired me to cobble this together as a bit in 20 minutes. Is it painfully obvious what the subject matter is?

If you are the angel on my shoulder

I shudder to wonder who the demon

To chase your amusement I grow bolder

Shroud egotism in justice and reason

But you see the truth with your godly eyes

A cocky young fool in over his head

I only dream affection will arise

In your half-heart if with my blood fruits fed

The world all fawns yet it is you I need

My power without your love is nothing

Desperate I chase, flirt, fumble, and bleed

Race against heart and watch tick-tick-ticking

Angel of death, you vow to reap my soul

But angels die first if half-hearts turn whole.
